2016年レインボーの再編成を行う際に、リッチーが見出したシンガー、ロニー・ロメロは、その歴代ボーカリスト達のスタイルを融合したかのようなボーカルが、世界中のファンの間でも大きな話題となることに。
そしてそのロメロ自身のバンド、ローズ・オブ・ブラックの、2017年来日公演より、8月30日の渋谷クワトロ、そして翌31日の梅田クワトロでのライブを、いずれもオーディエンス・レコーディングでは最高峰と云えるクオリティーにて、コンプリート収録。
まず前年の「LOUDPARK 2016」に続く来日であり、しかも今回はこの2回のみの来日公演ながら、いずれも初の単独フル・ライブとなるもので、どちらも小ホールゆえ、距離感が感じられない、一聴すればサウンドボードかと思えるもの。
そして2時間弱に及ぶ完全フルセット・ライブはいずれもセット内容は同じながら、前年は聴けなかった、2連作の「The Art of Illusion Part I: Smoke and Mirrors」「同 Part II: The Man From Beyond」やフィル・ライノットへ捧げた「Cry No More」、また10分を超える大作「When Everything Is Gone」に「Forgive or Forget」なども披露。
特に彼らはドラマティック・ダイナミック＆ヘヴィを追及しているだけに、このような大作を持ち込んだ方が、スケールアップしており、バンドの世界観を見事に再現。
そして最大の聞きどころは、セカンド・アンコールに用意されたレインボー・クラシックで、「Long Live Rock’n’Roll」や「Burn」はもちろん、再編成レインボーではセット入りしなかった「Kill The King」に「Lost In Hollywood」に、なんと「Lady Of The Lake」まで。
そしてさらにはサバスの「Neon Knights」も挿入と、リッチーがロメロはロニー・ディオとフレディ・マーキュリーを思わせると、言っていたのも納得の内容。
とにかく今後のレインボーでの活動も楽しみな、ファン必携の来日限定コレクターズ・エディション。
